After three days of nearly non-stop rain, Elgin parks, streets and homes are overrun with water. Driving has become dangerous in many areas and downright impossible in some. The good news is we have a week of dryness ahead! According to weatherchannel.com, more rain won’t hit the area until Monday, September 22nd. Hopefully the week-long repreave will allow local bodies of water to recede back within their banks.
Willard Street just south of Route 19 was closed to traffic due to high waters.
Elgin’s Lords Park was overrun by water in many areas
But the animals seemed unaffected
Elgin Island was closed to visitors due to the high water
The lack of human visitors made it a great time for this Heron to check out the park

Those are some great photos. It is amazing how much rain we got and how much damage it has done.
